Built for the laminate-and-clip workflow

The chart is formatted for the field, not the screen: large high-contrast type in three columns, the tank's exact dimensions in the title block of every page (so a tech can verify it's the right chart for the right tank before trusting it), total capacity stated, generation date and a disclaimer in the footer. Print it, laminate it, zip-tie it to the tank.

Why generated charts beat eyeballed ones: in a horizontal cylinder the middle inches hold far more than the top and bottom inches — linear interpolation misreads a quarter-full 1,000-gallon tank by dozens of gallons. Every row here comes from the exact circular-segment, obround or dished-head formulas documented on the methodology page and gated by our automated test suite.

Standard tank? Skip the typing — the chart library has 24 pre-built, source-verified charts including the 275/330 oil family and propane vessels solved to nameplate capacity.

FAQ

What is a strapping chart (dip chart)?

A calibrated table converting stick-measured liquid depth to volume — the industry tool for reading horizontal and odd-shaped tanks where inches don't map linearly to gallons.

Will this work for my non-standard tank?

Yes — that's the point. Enter any dimensions in any shape (including obround oil profiles and dished-head vessels) and generate the full chart. Standard tanks have ready-made charts.

How accurate is a generated chart?

Exact for the stated geometry — the same verified formulas as everything on this site (see methodology). Real tanks with fittings or tilt differ by a percent or two; the chart prints this caveat.

Can I get half-inch or centimetre steps?

Yes — choose 1″, ½″, 1 cm or 5 cm steps before downloading. Long tanks paginate automatically with the header repeated on every page.
