Sintex Loft Tank Dimensions
Sintex loft tanks are low, rectangular tanks for lofts and false ceilings. The brochure lists 17 sizes from 100 to 1000 L. The 1000 L loft tank is 1990 × 990 mm and 635 mm high. All figures are outside sizes, with the height up to the top rim.

What we found in the brochure
- 425 L: the height is printed as 407 mm and as 17.13 in. 17.13 in is 435 mm.
- 460 L: the height is printed as 325 mm and as 16.02 in. 16.02 in is 407 mm. A 325 mm height gives an outside box of only 459 L, so 325 mm is probably not correct.
- 475 L: the length is printed as 1585 mm and as 52.40 in (1331 mm). The height is printed as 435 mm and as 12.80 in (325 mm).
- 500 L (IWS-0050-01): the height is printed as 510 mm and as 17.13 in (435 mm).
The values in the 425, 460 and 475 L rows look like they were moved between rows. Use the table only to plan, and measure the real tank.
Litres per centimetre and floor load
A loft tank is a box, so each centimetre of depth holds about the same volume. The first column uses the outside length and width, so it is a little high. The load is the rated capacity of water on the plan area of the tank. Add the mass of the tank.

A loft slab is often thinner than a roof slab. A structural engineer must approve the loft for the full load.
How to check the loft before you buy
- Measure the clear height of the loft opening.
- Measure the clear depth and width inside the loft.
- Select a tank that is lower than the opening and smaller than the loft.
- Leave space above the rim to open the lid and to clean the tank.
- Make sure that the tank can pass through the loft opening.
